Birthday Bliss.

I'm finally TWENTY ONE, and loving it. I'm officially not underaged for almost anything and everything under the sky. Now, time to unveil my evil plan of world domination......right after I finish drinking my cup of hot Milo. :)

Anyway, do you know how some people will throw huge parties to celebrate their birthdays and all? Well, I wish I had that too. I mean, this is the one, the biggie, the birthday of all birthdays!!! Besides, you only get one whole day in a year to yourself, one day devoted to you, one day which is all about Y-O-U - so people say.

But, as nice as birthdays are, I can't help thinking that it's not all about me. Yes, I do enjoy and appreciate all the birthday wishes, the blowing of the candles, the nice meals that you get treated you etc. But, life still goes on as usual everywhere else. The world keeps on revolving - just not around you. It never has and it never will.

This birthday, I got news that a good friend of mine lost her dearest mother. It was sudden and heartbreaking.

This birthday, my best friend got his car knocked into by his girlfriend (I know, right?! ).

This birthday, there was a handover of power to a new Prime Minister in Malaysia.

This birthday, I have tons assignments to do and tests to study for.

All around the world, things are happening. Wars and conflicts are raging on. People are losing jobs in the worsening economic crisis. There are the passing away of loved ones and the births of some.

So, this birthday, I would just like to say that it's not really about the huge parties, the presents or whatever. But rather, it's about the people around you. Go ahead, spend quality time with friends and family around you. Cherish the love and friendships that you have. Make them feel appreciated all day, everyday.

Besides, what's a birthday if you don't have people around you to celebrate it with?
