A new chapter of my life began...when I left a small lil' island called HOME to a much bigger island called TASMANIA... but, life is still going to be as blessed or even MORE BLESSED and CRAZY because God is watching out for me. :-) SO here's a testament to that!...

Bumming about...

It's been awhile since my exams finished. The results are coming out on this Friday! I can't believe how time flies... I've been trying to arrange for an earlier flight back to Penang, but to no avail... :-( Oh well... So, what has Daniel been up to from the time he finished his exams until now?

First, I went FISHING for the very first time at this place called Margate, about 30 minutes drive from Hobart. It was exciting at first, when I first learned to cast my fishing rod and when I caught my first fish(a Flathead). But after awhile, the feeling of excitement slowly turned to a feeling of calmness and serenity as you just sit there and enjoy the scenery and warm summer breeze(in other words, I didn't get any fish after that... -_- ). It was good fun just hanging out with some friends while fishing.

There was an OCF End of Year Celebration. We just had a buffet dinner and some performances(which you guessed it, I performed). Nothing much to elaborate there. So, I'll just skip right to the pictures.

A few of us decided to go have dinner at this place called the Cascade brewery/hotel. I ordered this thing called the SUPER SCHNITZEL(however you spell that). They weren't kidding when they said SUPER, the meal was HUGE(this is an understatement)!!! The beef schnitzel alone was about the size of my two palms together...STRETCHED! The thickness of the schnitzel was about 3 fingers put together. On top of that, there was a serving of fries and salad. HOW ON EARTH CAN YOU MANAGE ALL THAT!? Everyone at the table who ordered that could not finish it. I couldn't even manage HALF of that thing and I was stuffed and so I had it packed and taken home.

Oh...besides spending time outside, I also tried my hands at baking...that's right...BAKING! To date, I've baked 4 times. My first 2 attempts were at baking apple crumbles. My second try was at baking something called crisp apple tart. My first apple crumble turned out like cookies on baked apples while my crisp apple tart turned out like baked apples on roti canai. So, you can imagine my utmost disappointment. Lesson learnt: never trust recipes posted on Wiki-How. I got so tired of baking apple-related stuff that I tried baking cookies instead-chocolate almond cookies to be exact. This was a great success! Everyone loved it! So, in conclusion, I should stick to baking cookies???

A few friends and I decided to make a road trip up north of Tassie to the town of Burnie and the city of Launceston. It's always trips like these that make me appreciate Tassie SOOO MUCH MORE!!! I am reminded again that I am so lucky to be studying at one of the most natural and beautiful locations in the world! So yea, the trip was heaps of fun. Has anyone tried deep fried MARS BARS before? On one of the towns on the way to Burnie, they have this place which sells deep fried Mars Bars. Apparently, this is the only place in Tassie that sells this. Interesting eh? On the way to our destinations, we stopped over for things like cheese and chocolate tasting...yumm... However, the 'getting-there part' was not much fun. I think we spent like 8 hours in total driving from Hobart-Burnie-Launceston-Hobart. Sickening, I know. But, with breath-taking countryside sceneries like these, how can one's grouses be justified?

How can summer holidays be complete without a trip to the beach? One fine day, a couple of friends and I went to Kingston Beach, which is about 20 minutes away from Hobart. GOshh..I now have the opinion that every beach in Tasmania is clean and beautiful with baby blue, if not crystal clear waters(correct me if I'm wrong). But yea, it was really nice just playing frisbee and wading about in the waters(not forgetting being sun-baked all the way). And of course...eating all the fatty foods that come with beach outings like fries, burgers, Coke, ice cream. Goshh...thinking about it makes me feel really guilty. :P

Ok...that's all for now.

Oh, and the Australian Labour Party led by Kevin Rudd has just won the general elections here in Australia. Bye John Howard. Well, I hope Mr Kevin Rudd does good for this country. ;-)
